Two origins. The same heartfelt promise.
With PROPOSE DIAMOND, you can choose
a natural or laboratory-grown diamond.

NATURAL DIAMOND

Created by the Earth.
A story unlike any other.

Natural diamonds formed deep within the Earth over long periods of time. A choice for those who treasure their natural origin and the individual character of each stone.

LABORATORY-GROWN DIAMOND

Grown through innovation.
A new way to shine.

Diamonds grown using human technology in a controlled environment. A choice for those who prioritise a diamond’s beauty or their preferred size over the rarity of natural origin.

Discover laboratory-grown diamonds ↓

Images are illustrative. Appearance alone cannot reliably distinguish a natural diamond from a laboratory-grown diamond.

Grown by Science.
Chosen by You.
Understanding laboratory-grown diamonds

A different origin.
Still a diamond.

01 / MATERIAL

Not a diamond imitation.
A crystal of carbon.

Laboratory-grown diamonds have essentially the same chemical composition, crystal structure, and physical and optical properties as natural diamonds. They are different from diamond simulants such as cubic zirconia and moissanite.

02 / ORIGIN

Two main methods.
One growing crystal.

The main methods are HPHT, which uses high pressure and high temperature, and CVD, which grows a crystal from carbon-containing gas. Their growth characteristics differ from those of natural diamonds, allowing specialist laboratories to identify them.

03 / BEAUTY

Look at the stone.
Discover its own beauty.

Laboratory-grown diamonds also vary in colour and inclusions. Beauty is not determined by origin alone. Examine the stone and its report to understand its size, colour, clarity and cut quality.

What Matters
to You?
Understand the differences. Choose with confidence.

NATURAL

Natural Diamond

Origin
A diamond formed naturally within the Earth and recovered through mining.
What you may value
Natural rarity and a story shaped by the Earth’s long history.
Budget considerations
Natural rarity contributes to price. Prices vary with quality, size and other characteristics.
Checking quality
Confirm natural origin, individual quality and any treatments through the report and the store’s explanation.

LABORATORY-GROWN

Laboratory-Grown Diamond

Origin
A diamond grown using technology such as HPHT or CVD.
What you may value
A way to enjoy a diamond’s beauty, with a different value proposition from natural rarity.
Budget considerations
Pricing differs from natural diamonds. Compare the sizes and qualities available within your budget at the store.
Checking quality
Confirm laboratory-grown origin, individual quality and any treatments. Report terminology and assessment methods vary by issuing organisation.

Choose what matters to the two of you.

Perhaps origin matters most to you; perhaps size or beauty does. Neither option is right for everyone. Tell MUQBEL about your preferences and budget.

Before you choose.
A few things to know.

Can you tell the difference by appearance or sparkle?

Their basic optical properties are shared, so appearance alone cannot reliably establish origin. Distinguishing natural from laboratory-grown diamonds requires specialist testing or dedicated equipment. Individual stones vary in beauty, so compare them in person.

What should I check in a diamond report?

First check whether the diamond is identified as natural or laboratory-grown. Then check the issuing organisation, quality assessment and treatment information. Assessment methods vary by diamond type and organisation. We do not imply that every featured item comes with a report from a particular institution; please confirm the supplied documents at the store.

Are laboratory-grown diamonds always environmentally friendly?

Being laboratory-grown does not, by itself, establish a lower environmental impact. Energy sources, production processes and transport all matter. If environmental considerations are important to you, review specific manufacturer information and independent verification.

Are prices and future values the same?

Natural and laboratory-grown diamonds have different markets and pricing structures. Future resale prices and buyback terms also differ. Neither comes with a guarantee of retaining its purchase price or future investment value. Contact MUQBEL for prices, availability and conditions for setting your diamond in a ring.
